In the framework of the X-CHEM project, teaching activities will be strengthened through the resources provided by the project, with the newly recruited staff allowing for the expansion of the educational offerings both in the Master degree course and the two Ph.D. courses. For the latter, an attempt was made to increase attractiveness to both Italian and international students through the offer of scholarships directly linked to scientific activities the X-CHEM project is focused on, with greater financial support than university scholarships. Additionally, project funds will be allocated to increase the number of Visiting Professors in addition to those already included in the ongoing university planning. These professors will offer additional courses within the Chemistry Ph.D. and/or Master’s courses.
Progress status February 2024:
Numerous actions were undertaken throughout 2023 to strengthen teaching.
- The Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies (DSTC) has been engaged in designing the new Master’s degree program in chemistry (LM54) with the aim of improving the quality, visibility, and attractiveness of the degree program. Two new curricula have been defined and scheduled: Chemistry for Environment, Energy, and Sustainability (Italian acronym: CAES); Chemistry of Complex Systems of Biological Interest (Italian acronym: CSCIB). Both curricula will start on the next academic year 2024-2025.
- To increase the attractiveness of the two Ph.D. courses offered by DSTC, namely Chemical Sciences and Materials for Sustainable Development, an increase of € 7,000 per year in the university scholarship. This increase has been regularly implemented starting from the 39th cycle of the Ph.D. program (A.A. 2023-2024).
