Pierluca Gallons was born in Rome February 20, 1977, he graduated in 2002 with honors from the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, and in March 2006 he received his doctorate in
Chemical Sciences XVIII cycle at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. In 2006 he worked as post-doc at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” in the laboratories of Prof Zanoni.
Since December 2006, he is researcher in Organic Chemistry at the Dapartment of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. In 2004 he went as visiting-student at the University of Houston, Texas (USA), in the laboratory of Prof. K. Kadish.
In the period from October to December 2004 he worked as a researcher at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands (EU), as a Marie Curie Fellow in the laboratories of Prof. L. De  Cola.

The research activity mainly focused in the synthesis and the study of photo, electronic and electrochemical properties in solution of tetraferrocenylporphyrins, and using these molecules as photo-active species deposited on metal and semiconductors surfaces. In addition, the research activity was also focused on a new class of polyquinoid compounds recently discovered, called KuQuinones, that show very interesting electrochemical and photophysical properties, and they also present attractive biomedical activities. Furthermore he studies various V catalysed oxidations with peroxides and the electrochemical properties of Vanadium complexes in molecular solvents and ionic liquids.

He is referee for the following journal: Chemical Communication, Dalton Transaction, Journal of Physical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines, Electrochimica Acta, Energy and Enviromental Science, New Journal of Chemistry, Journal of Molecular Structure.
