Michela SALAMONE
Professore Associato SSD: CHIM/06 Chimica OrganicaStanza: G1 – 10Informazioni biografiche
She obtained her PhD in Chemistry in 2003 at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” under the supervision of Prof. Massimo Bietti with a thesis work on the mechanistic aspects of the reactivity of radical intermediates involved in the oxidative degradation of simple lignin model compounds. During this period she carried out research activity in the Max Planck Institut für Strahlenchemie, Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany) and Daresbury Laboratory and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (United Kingdom).
She has been a postdoctoral fellow in the period 2003-2007 at the “Dipartimento di Scienze e Tecnologie Chimiche” of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, where she became Research Associate in Organic Chemistry in November 2007 and Associate Professor in April 2019.
She gave theoretical and practical assistance to the courses of Organic Chemistry since 2001. She currently teaches Organic Chemistry (1st level degree in Biology) and Organic Chemistry V (2nd level degree in Chemistry).
She has been tutor or co-tutor of >20 undergraduate and PhD students and member of national and international PhD examination committees.
She has been a member of the Organizing committee of the International Conference on Hydrogen Atom Transfer (iCHAT 2014, iCHAT 2017), and of the 20th International Symposium on Radical Ion Reactivity (ISRIR 2006).
Her scientific activity is mostly focused on the study of hydrogen atom transfer and electron transfer reactions involving alkoxyl and aminoxyl radicals by means of time-resolved techniques. The results of these studies led to 62 publications in international peer-reviewed journals and more than 40 contributions to international conferences and meetings.
