Coordinator: Prof. Elisabetta Di Bartolomeo
The PhD in Materials for Sustainable Development is an interdisciplinary program focused on the study and development of innovative materials to address the major challenges of sustainability, including energy transition, environmental protection, and the improvement of quality of life.
The program integrates expertise from different scientific fields (chemistry, physics, materials science, engineering, nanotechnology, and biomedicine) to train highly qualified researchers capable of working in both academic and industrial environments. In this context, the PhD aims to develop advanced skills in the field of materials for sustainable development, promoting low-impact technological solutions, a strongly interdisciplinary approach to research, and a solid international perspective through collaborations with universities and research centers.
Main Research Areas
- Materials for energy conversion and storage (batteries, fuel cells)
- Materials for environmental monitoring and sensing
- Technologies for solar thermal energy and sustainable energy systems
- Materials for biomedical and diagnostic applications
- Nanotechnologies and bio-nanomaterials
- Conservation and restoration of cultural heritage
