He graduated in Physics from the University of Salento in 1993 and received his Ph.D. in Physics from the same University in 1998. After postdoctoral research at the Universities of Salento and Parma, in 2002 he became a researcher at the Italian National Institute for the Physics of Matter (INFM) and, subsequently, at the National Research Council of Italy (CNR).

His research has focused on the synthesis and characterization of materials for micro- and optoelectronics, phase-change memory (PCM) and neuromorphic devices, topological insulators, thermoelectric materials, and nanostructures. He has long-standingexperience in vapor-phase synthesis techniques, including MOVPE/MOCVD and, more recently, in the synthesis of carbon-based nanomaterials.

From 2007 to 2020, he worked at CNR-IMM in Agrate Brianza, where he established an MOCVD laboratory for chalcogenide materials and carried out research on phase-change materials and topological insulators. In 2020, he moved to CNR-IMM Rome, where he co-led the PCM group, focusing on phase-change materials for memory and neuromorphic devices.

In September 2023 he joined the University of Rome Tor Vergataandhis current research focuses on carbon-based nanomaterials by chemical vapor deposition, while he continues his activities on phase-change materials for neuromorphic devices in collaboration with CNR-IMM Rome and on topological insulators with CNR-IMM Agrate Brianza.

He has coordinated and participated in several national and European research projects, including SYNAPSE, MONADS, BeforeHand, and SKYTOP.

He is the author of numerous publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.
