Biographical Info

Sara Bobone studied analytical chemistry at Sapienza University in Rome, where she graduated cum laude in 2007. She received her PhD in Chemical Sciences from Tor Vergata University in 2012, with a thesis titled “Peptide and protein interactions with membrane systems-applications to antimicrobial therapy and protein drug delivery”, under the supervision of Professor L. Stella. The thesis won the Semerano Prize, given by the Italian Chemical Society as one of the three best PhD theses in Physical Chemistry of the years 2011-2012, and the Springer Theses Prize. In 2014, she was selected by the Humboldt Excellence Initiative for a three-year contract at the Berlin Humboldt University, where she worked on the characterization of viral protein-protein interactions by quantitative microscopy (Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy, Line-scan Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy, Number and Brightness, Raster Image Correlation Spectroscopy). In 2017, she took a position as research assistant in Tor Vergata University. Her research is focused on the study of the interaction between peptides or proteins and model membranes by molecular spectroscopy, in particular fluorescence, infrared and circular dichroism techniques.
