Biographical Info

Manuela Stefanelli was born in Rome May 13, 1977, she graduated with honors in Chemistry at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” in 2003, and in March 2007 she obtained the PhD in Chemical Sciences at the same university under the supervision of Professor R. Paolesse and Dr. D. Monti. Her PhD thesis received the AICIng Award in 2008 from the Associazione Italiana Chimica per l’Ingegneria. From 2007 to 2013 she worked as post-doc at the Department of Chemical Science and Technology (STC) of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. From 2013 to 2016 she was Responsible of Research Unit within the FIRB 2012 “Future in Ricerca” Project “Spectroscopic and structural characterization of proteasome inhibitors” (RBFR12WB3W). From December 2018 she is a researcher (RTDb) at STC Department.  Since 2008 she is an Assistant Professor in general chemistry at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. The research activity of Dr. Stefanelli is mainly focused on the synthesis and reactivity of porphyrins and corroles. In addition her work is addressed to the construction of chiral porphyrin assemblies, their full characterization and potential use as sensing materials in stereoselective sensors. She is author or coauthor of 43 papers on international journals receiving 719 citations with a H-index = 15 (source Scopus, May 2019). She is a reviewer for the following journals: Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry, New Journal of Chemistry, Journal of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines, Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical. She is member of the following professional societies: Società Chimica Italiana (SCI), Associazione Italiana Chimica per l’Ingegneria (AICIng) and Society of Porphyrins and Phthalocyanines (SPP).
